Hello Everyone!
Today, Mark and I took kitty Cosmo on an exploration! She is an indoor cat who never attempts to venture outside the door (even at our encouragement....hehe). The weather is so beautiful today that we decided to give her a taste of the outdoors. I grabbed the blanket, Mark grabbed Cosmo, and we went downstairs (and down more stairs and down even more stairs....we're on the 3rd floor) to the pool/picturesque garden area. I laid out the blanket and we all plopped down.
Kitty immediately hid behind the barrier of my legs. Several times, she poked her head out a bit to look around but stayed down for the most part. The few steps she took (usually to get even more hidden) were more like kitty-crawls. Her body stayed plastered low to the ground while her front legs pulled her a few inches forward (like a snail). Mark and I had a great time. It was perfect weather!
At first, the blanket was in a nice sunny spot, but Cosmo's fur began to feel very hot, so we picked up Cos & the blanket and moved to the shade. Well, then we were too cold. Picked up Cos & the blanket and moved back into the sun. She must have wondered what was going on at some point when we kept moving her back and forth, especially when all she wanted to do was hide behind our bodies.
All in all, despite her appearing somewhat petrified, we think her first experience in the great outdoors was a success, and we plan to take her out more often.
Love,
Melanie
